We, Knowbio GmbH, take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We process your data in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the applicable German data protection laws.

Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (e.g., name, email address, IP address).
When you use our website, certain technical access data is automatically collected and stored in so-called Server Log Files:
Access Data – Pages visited, date and time of access, browser type/version, operating system used, referrer URL.
IP Address – your IP address (is stored anonymized by our system)
This data is technically necessary to deliver the website and ensure system security. This log data is not merged with other data sources. The data is automatically deleted after a short period.
Legal Basis:
The processing is based on our legitimate interest in the technically error-free provision and security of our website (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR).
If you send us inquiries via our contact form or by email, we process the personal data you provide (e.g., name, email address, content of the message) to process your inquiry and any follow-up questions.
The provision of this data is voluntary. However, without providing the necessary contact details, we cannot respond to your inquiry.
Legal Basis:
1) Performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures: Insofar as your inquiry is related to the initiation or performance of a contract (Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR).
2) Legitimate Interest: In all other cases, we process the data based on our legitimate interest in the effective and prompt processing of inquiries (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR).
Storage Period: The data remains with us until the purpose for storage ceases to apply (e.g., after your inquiry has been fully processed). Statutory retention obligations (in particular commercial and tax law retention periods) remain unaffected.
We use Matomo, an open-source web analysis service, to evaluate user behavior on our website and to optimize our offer in terms of user-friendliness and content.

The use of Matomo is based on our legitimate interest in an anonymized, non-personal analysis of user behavior to improve our website (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR).
Right to Object (Opt-Out):
You can object to the data processing at any time in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR by sending us a message to datenschutz@knowbio.de. Alternatively, you can activate the “Do Not Track” function in your browser.
Storage Period:
Pseudonymized analysis data is regularly deleted, but no later than 13 months after collection.
If you wish to subscribe to our newsletter, we require a valid email address and confirmation that you are the owner of the email address (Double Opt-in procedure).
Email Address – Sending the newsletter.
Registration and Confirmation Time, IP Address – Proof of consent (logging).
Name (optional)– Personalization of the newsletter.
Double Opt-in:After your registration, we will send you a confirmation email. Your registration is only completed by clicking on the confirmation link. This serves as proof of your consent and prevents misuse.
No Tracking: We do not carry out individual tracking of reading behavior (i.e., we do not evaluate whether or when you open the newsletter or click on links).
Legal Basis: The processing is based exclusively on your explicit consent (Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR).
Withdrawal of Consent: You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. An unsubscribe link can be found in every newsletter. After unsubscribing, your data will be deleted, unless there are statutory retention obligations (e.g., for proving the consent previously given).

Analytical – None, as we operate Matomo cookie-less (see Section 4). Not applicable.

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures (TOMs) to protect your data stored by us against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction, or unauthorized access.
Our website uses SSL/TLS encryption for the transmission of confidential content. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the “https://” in the address bar of your browser and a lock symbol.
We treat your personal data confidentially. Data is only transferred to third parties under the following conditions:
Legal Obligation: If we are legally obliged or required by enforceable official/court orders to disclose data (Art. 6 (1) lit. c GDPR).

Processor: Insofar as we use processors bound by instructions (e.g., hosting providers), this is done on the basis of a Data Processing Agreement in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR.
Third Country Transfer: There is no transfer of your personal data to third countries outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA).
We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making in individual cases (Art. 22 GDPR). We do not carry out profiling that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you.
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy if necessary, particularly in the event of legal changes or adjustments to our website. The current version can always be found on our website.
