From BIOCOM to Knowbio: We’ve evolved to meet the needs of a dynamic industry. Today, we are a modern life science communication company with a synergetic model.
BERLIN, January 19, 2026 — BIOCOM Interrelations GmbH is entering a new chapter. Starting today, the company will operate under a new name: Knowbio GmbH. The new website is now live at knowb.io.
The change comes just a few months after Joachim Eeckhout and Michael Kuhrt took over the company as new owners. While BIOCOM has been a trusted name in European life sciences for more than three decades, the rebrand marks a clear step forward: building on the legacy and bringing the company into a more digital, modern era.
“BIOCOM has an incredible history and reputation, and we’re proud to carry it forward,” says Joachim Eeckhout, co-owner of Knowbio GmbH. “But we also felt it was the right moment to make a clear statement: the company is evolving. Knowbio reflects where we’re heading: more digital, more connected, and closer to the way the life sciences community consumes media today.”
Knowbio continues the work and spirit of BIOCOM Interrelations GmbH, which has long played an important role in connecting stakeholders across biotech, pharma and medtech, especially in Germany and across Europe.
The new leadership also wants to explicitly recognize the role of Andreas Mietzsch, founder of BIOCOM Interrelations GmbH, who built the company into one of the best-known media and communications platforms in the European biotech ecosystem.
“We want to acknowledge what Andreas created over the past decades,” says Michael Kuhrt, co-owner of Knowbio GmbH. “BIOCOM’s credibility, its publications, and its role in the ecosystem didn’t happen by accident. Our goal now is to respect that foundation and build the next version of it.”
BIOCOM AG, which remains headed by Andreas Mietzsch as CEO, will continue to operate independently under the same name. It is not involved in, and has no connection to, the current activities and future direction of Knowbio.
The name Knowbio hasn’t been chosen randomly and captures the company’s long-standing mission: making life sciences more understandable, visible, and connected through journalism, communication, and community-building.
The rebrand is also a signal that the company is expanding its focus beyond traditional formats, including through the continued growth of Biotech Snap, a modern daily newsletter that has quickly become a new addition to the company’s portfolio and a key part of its digital direction.
Knowbio will also continue publishing established brands such as transkript and European Biotechnology Magazine, while accelerating their digital development and strengthening the company’s role as an independent media group for the European life sciences ecosystem.
As part of this new phase, Knowbio is also preparing a rebrand and full redevelopment of the websites for transkript and European Biotechnology Magazine in the coming months, with the goal of improving the digital experience for readers and partners.
More updates and new projects will be announced soon.

We build trust through strong editorial standards, rigorous thinking, and communication that’s accurate, responsible, and reliable.
Science can be complex. Communication shouldn’t be. We turn technical topics into clear narratives that people actually understand and remember.
We don’t communicate into the void. Everything we create is designed around real audiences, real channels, and outcomes that matter.
